Frequently asked

How does it work?
Every creature is three strips — a front, a middle and a back. Swipe a strip to change that part to a different animal. When you like what you have made, tap Build. The app suggests a name made from the three animals' names, which you can type over.
Which devices does it run on?
iPhone and iPad, in landscape. The app is designed to be held sideways, like a picture book.
What is free, and what does the purchase add?
Free: ten animals and two styles, Watercolor and Felt — 810 different creatures. The one-time purchase of $9.99 opens all fifty animals and all six styles, which is 120,050 creatures. There is no subscription and nothing else to buy.
Where did my purchase go?
Purchases are tied to your Apple Account, not to a device. Open the parent area (the gear, behind an arithmetic question) and tap Restore Purchases. If it still does not appear, write to us.
Why is there an arithmetic question?
It keeps a young child out of the settings and away from the purchase without putting a password in a parent's way.
Where do saved pictures go?
Into the Photos library on that device. The app asks permission the first time and cannot save without it. If you said no and changed your mind, turn Zany Zoo back on under Settings › Privacy & Security › Photos.
Does the app collect anything about my child?
No. No accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no ads. See theprivacy policy.
Can I turn the sounds off?
Yes. Sounds and Music are separate switches in the parent area.
My child made a rude name.
Suggested names are built from the animals' own names and are not filtered. With poodles in the mix, the occasional silly word turns up. Any name can be typed over.
